Two treatments can both be called HIFU - here is what separates them

If you have started comparing HIFU for a softening jawline or heaviness through the jowls, you will have noticed prices vary widely between clinics - and there is a real reason for that. Two treatments can both be called HIFU and be quite different underneath. Three questions cut through it.

1. What device is being used?

HIFU platforms are not all built to the same standard. At our Woollahra clinic we treat with the CFU Elife by Biotec Italia, a medical-grade system designed with TGA guidance in mind - the quality of the platform shapes the quality of the treatment.

2. How many depths are treated?

Face HIFU can work at three precise depths: 4.5mm, the SMAS layer - the same deep support layer a surgeon lifts - for the strongest lift; 3mm in the deep dermis for firming; and 1.5mm in the upper dermis for fine lines and surface tightening. Some treatments cover only one. We treat all three depths as standard in every face treatment, never just one.

3. How many shots are delivered?

More shots across an area is what builds a fuller, more even result. We deliver four times as many shots as a standard HIFU treatment.

The honest part

HIFU is non-invasive, with no injections and little to no downtime. Results build gradually as your own collagen renews, and they vary from person to person - which is why suitability is always assessed in person before any treatment goes ahead.

If skin laxity and loss of firmness is the concern that brought you here, the clearest next step is not choosing a treatment from a menu. Book a skin assessment with Jade at our Woollahra rooms - she will look at your skin in person and explain whether HIFU skin tightening genuinely suits the areas that matter most to you.

General information only - not medical advice. Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Written in line with Australian Consumer Law.
