Skin Corrections

Precision plasma skin-correction treatment

Skin corrections are small, in-clinic treatments for cosmetic concerns like unwanted skin tags and raised moles, visible facial thread veins, and excessive underarm sweating. At Skin Body Health, Jade assesses each concern at a treatments start from $70. These are cosmetic treatments only, so anything on your skin that looks unusual is referred to your GP or a dermatologist before we go further.

What skin corrections cover

Focused ultrasound sweat-gland treatment in progress

Skin corrections group together a few precise, small-area treatments for cosmetic concerns that many people would simply like to tidy up. Each one is assessed with Jade first, and the right approach is confirmed at your consultation.

  • Cosmetic mole and skin tag removal, using high-frequency cautery, from $70.
  • Facial thread vein and small spider vein reduction, using thermo-coagulation, from $450.
  • Excessive underarm sweating, using focused ultrasound to target the sweat glands, from $299.

These are cosmetic treatments, and how each area responds varies from person to person. We talk through what is realistic before we begin.

A cosmetic service, not a skin check

This is an important distinction. Mole and skin tag work at Skin Body Health is cosmetic only, meaning it is about the appearance of a spot you would rather not have, not about diagnosing it.

  • We do not diagnose skin conditions, and this is not a mole check or a skin cancer screening.
  • If a mole or spot is new, changing in size, shape or colour, irregular, itchy or bleeding, we ask you to have it checked by your GP or a dermatologist first, and we will refer you.
  • We only treat a lesion cosmetically once you are comfortable it has been reviewed.

If a skin check is what you need, your GP is the right first step, and we are always happy to point you there.

What to expect on the day

Your appointment begins with an assessment so Jade can look at the area, confirm the approach and set the treatment to suit you. Each spot or area is worked on precisely, a little at a time.

  • Most people find these treatments comfortable, and we check in with you throughout.
  • There is generally little to no downtime, though a small scab or some redness can settle over the days that follow cautery, and thread vein areas may look pink for a short while.
  • We explain simple aftercare, including keeping the area clean and protecting it from the sun, and some concerns may need more than one visit.

Who skin corrections suit

Skin corrections are a considered option for people bothered by a small, specific concern they would like to soften or remove for cosmetic reasons. A consultation is the clearest way to know what suits you:

  • People troubled by an unwanted skin tag or a raised cosmetic mole
  • Those wanting to reduce the appearance of facial thread veins or small broken capillaries
  • People bothered by excessive underarm sweating
  • Clients across Paddington, Double Bay, Bondi and the eastern suburbs

These treatments may not suit every skin type or concern, and some spots are better checked by a doctor first, which Jade reviews with you at your skin and body consultation. This information is general only, and we share honest, accurate information rather than promising a specific result. If facial redness or visible capillaries are your main concern, see redness and broken capillaries.

The medical-grade technology behind our skin corrections

Small treatments still call for precise, purpose-built equipment. At Skin Body Health we use medical-grade, TGA and FDA approved technology, matched to each concern, so the right amount of energy reaches the right spot and the surrounding skin is looked after.

  • High-frequency fine-wire cautery for cosmetic mole, skin tag and raised sebaceous spots. A very fine wire tip carries a controlled high-frequency current, so Jade can work spot by spot with a high degree of precision and keep the heat to the small area being treated.
  • Xlase Plus long-pulse Nd:YAG (1064nm) by Biotech Italia for facial thread veins and small vascular concerns. This is a medical-grade, TGA and FDA approved laser platform. The 1064nm wavelength has high haemoglobin absorption and reaches deeper than IPL, so it can act on the vessel itself rather than only the surface layers of the skin.
  • CFU Elife focused ultrasound (HIFU) by Biotech Italia for excessive underarm sweating. This is a next-generation focused-ultrasound platform with adjustable, precise depth control, so energy is delivered at the level of the sweat glands rather than at the skin surface.

Naming the technology matters to us, because the device and the way it is used are a large part of a good, comfortable result. How your skin responds still varies from person to person, which is why every plan starts with a consultation.

Our plasma work is performed with the Plasma Pen by Louise Walsh International - the device used in over 40 countries, chosen by more than 1,250 new technicians a year and used across more than 60,000 treatments in the last 12 months alone.

For excessive underarm sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis), focused ultrasound is used to target overactive sweat glands directly - typically 2-3 sessions of around 30-45 minutes each, with minimal downtime. Suitability is confirmed at your consultation.

How mole, skin tag and thread vein reduction works

Each skin correction works on a clear, well-understood principle. Understanding the mechanism helps set realistic expectations, and Jade talks all of this through with you before anything begins.

Cosmetic mole and skin tag removal. High-frequency cautery uses a fine, controlled current to gently treat the raised tissue a little at a time, so the spot is reduced and the skin is left to settle and heal over the following days. Because the wire tip is so fine, the work stays focused on the area being treated. The same fine-wire approach can be used cosmetically on raised sebaceous spots such as milia and sebaceous hyperplasia to help reduce their appearance.

Facial thread vein and small vascular reduction. The long-pulse Nd:YAG laser works by a process called thermo-coagulation. The 1064nm light is strongly absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood, which gently heats the wall of the visible vessel so it closes and is then cleared by the body over time. Nd:YAG has an advantage over IPL and shorter wavelengths here: rather than mostly affecting the surface, it can reach the underlying vessel that feeds the visible thread vein. How each vein responds varies, and some areas need more than one visit.

Focused ultrasound for excessive underarm sweating

Excessive underarm sweating can be a genuine day-to-day frustration. We approach it cosmetically, using focused ultrasound (HIFU) to target the sweat glands that sit within the underarm.

How it works. The CFU Elife device delivers focused ultrasound energy to a precise, set depth. That energy is concentrated at the level of the sweat glands, with the aim of reducing how active they are in the treated area. Because the energy is focused below the surface, the outer skin is largely spared. Most clients find the treatment comfortable, an underarm session takes around 30 to 45 minutes, and some choose a short course of two to three sessions. Results vary from person to person, and Jade sets honest expectations at your consultation.

The clinical background. HIFU began as a medical ultrasound technology and has a body of published research behind its use in skin tightening. For example, a study in the Annals of Dermatology followed 20 patients treated for facial laxity, and a study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology reported an average brow lift of just under 2mm at 90 days in 36 patients. We use the same category of medical-grade focused-ultrasound technology, applied here to the underarm. As with any cosmetic treatment, individual results are not guaranteed, and we share this information.

Frequently asked

Can you remove a mole for me?

We remove skin tags and raised moles cosmetically, meaning for their appearance rather than for medical reasons. We do not diagnose skin conditions, and this is not a mole check or skin cancer screening. If a mole is new, changing, irregular, itchy or bleeding, we ask you to have it checked by your GP or a dermatologist first, and we will refer you before any cosmetic treatment.

Does mole or skin tag removal hurt, and is there downtime?

Most people find high-frequency cautery comfortable, and we work on a small area at a time and check in with you throughout. There is generally little to no downtime, though a small scab or some redness can settle over the following days. We explain simple aftercare, and sensation and healing vary from person to person.

How does thread vein and spider vein reduction work?

We use thermo-coagulation, which applies a fine, controlled current to visible facial thread veins and small spider veins to help reduce their appearance. How each vein responds varies, some areas need more than one visit, and Jade sets realistic expectations at your consultation rather than promising a specific result.

How do I book skin corrections at Skin Body Health?

We work carefully, so request your skin and body consultation online or call us on 0410 783 125. You can also email info@skinbodyhealthclinic.com. Jade assesses the area, confirms whether it is suitable for cosmetic treatment or needs a GP or dermatologist first, and tailors a plan to suit you.

Will my thread veins come back after treatment?

Once a visible thread vein has been treated with the Nd:YAG laser, the vessel is closed off and gradually cleared by the body, so a vein that responds well is unlikely to return in that same spot. New veins can still form over time, particularly with sun exposure or as a natural part of ageing, and some areas need more than one visit. Jade sets realistic expectations at your consultation rather than promising a specific result.

How many sessions will I need for thread vein reduction?

It depends on how many vessels you have and how they respond, and most people have between three and six sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Some smaller thread veins settle in fewer visits. Jade confirms a realistic plan for your skin at your consultation, and how each vein responds varies from person to person.

Is there anything I should do before a thread vein or vascular treatment?

Yes. We ask you to avoid fake tan and to keep the area out of the sun in the lead-up, since laser works best on skin that is not recently tanned. It also helps to let us know about any supplements and medications at your consultation. Jade goes through the full pre-treatment advice with you so the area is in the best condition on the day.

How does the treatment for excessive underarm sweating work, and does it hurt?

We use focused ultrasound (HIFU) to target the sweat glands within the underarm, with the aim of reducing how active they are in the treated area. The energy is focused below the surface, so the outer skin is largely spared. Most clients find the treatment comfortable, and an underarm session usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes. Sensation varies from person to person, and we check in with you throughout.

How many sweating treatments will I need, and how long do results last?

Many clients have a short course of two to three sessions, and any easing of sweating tends to build gradually rather than appear overnight. How long the effect lasts varies from person to person, so we avoid promising a fixed outcome. Jade reviews your progress with you and tailors the plan to how your body responds.

Are there any reasons I might not be suitable for these treatments?

A consultation is the clearest way to know. As a general guide, some treatments are not suitable during pregnancy, or for people with a pacemaker or certain heart conditions, epilepsy, an active infection or broken skin in the area, or a tendency to keloid scarring. Jade checks your history and the specific area first, and will refer you to your GP or a dermatologist if that is the safer first step.
